Half of mobile apps will be HTML5/native hybrids by 2016

Half of mobile apps in the wild by 2016 will be a HTML5 user interface housed in a native container, predicts Gartner. The research firm says features like location, notification, mapping and camera need native implementations, but the user interface can be HTML5. Gartner’s predictions runs counter to recent trends, where companies such as Google, Facebook and Evernote have delivered native app implementations for multiple platforms.
