by Curtis Lee Fulton

San Jose opened its new “wickedly-fast” wifi network to its citizens today, after mayor Chuck Reed sliced a ethernet cable in half with a chainsaw during a ceremony. The city partnered with SmartWAVE Technologies and Ruckus Wireless, Inc. to deliver the network.  Ruckus CEO Selina Lo said smartphone users on the network will see speeds of up to three megabits/second, “easily three to four times faster than any other public network service.”
