Journalists launch searchable database of hospital inspection reports

by Curtis Lee Fulton

The Association of Health Care Journalists (AHCJ) has launched, a searchable database of federal hospital inspection reports. The AHCJ says the national database includes “deficiencies cited during complaint inspections at acute-care and critical access hospitals throughout the United States since Jan. 1, 2011.” Before the site was launched, the data was only available through Freedom of Information Act requests. The database is funded by the Ethics & Excellence in Journalism Foundation.
