Feds release vehicle safety API, mobile apps

The U.S. government is has launched a vehicle safety API and a suite of mobile apps to go with it, says the U.S. Department of Transportation’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). The API is open, so third-party developers can make their own apps. The data will be updated continuously and includes vehicle crash test ratings, vehicle recalls, consumer complaints and instructions for child car seat installation.
