Rolling Stone’s Ben Fong-Torres to write for Qello

Concert streaming service Qello says Rolling Stone rock journalist Ben Fong-Torres will write music reviews for Qello’s blog, Inside the Q.  In addition to writing reviews, Fong-Torres will also blog about personal encounters he’s had with artists in the past.

Fong-Torres joined Rolling Stone in 1969 and is the senior editor of the magazine. He’s the writer who was characterized in the 2000 movie, Almost Famous.


The Guardian musters citizen journalist brigade

UK newspaper the Guardian has mustered citizens of the world to report for “GuardianWitness,” its volunteer journalist brigade. The paper will dispatch assignments to the public, asking them to contribute video, pictures or text on a certain topic. Submissions will be reviewed by the paper and the good stuff will be published on GuardianWitness and maybe the Guardian itself.


Viralheat overhauls its Flint social publishing tool

Viralheat, maker of Social Media Monitoring tools, says it’s overhauled Flint, a social media publishing tool for Chrome, Firefox and Safari. Flint customers can now post the link of any page they’re viewing to Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Google+ accounts in two clicks. Customers can also select an image, link or text on a web page and right-click to share with Flint.

Viralheat also launched five new APIs earlier this year.  

Amazon’s Appstore for Android goes global

Amazon says its Appstore for Android will began operating in international markets in the coming months. Developers can submit their apps now for distribution in close to 200 countries.
