More iPad owners use apps in the evening than iPhone owners

More iPad owners use apps between 6 pm and 11 pm than iPhone owners, finds a new study by Flurry, a mobile analytics firm. According to the study, iPhone app usage peaks during the same period as well, but “the absolute amount of time on iPad and the percentage of app use that occurs during those hours is greater.”

In the earliest hours of the next morning, iPhone usage is higher than iPad, although total activity is lower. Flurry guesses that “insomniacs [are] reaching for phones at their bedside or those Singles and Hip Urban Lifestylers finding their way home from a late night.”

Flurry says its analytics platform reaches one billion devices a month and records 3.5 billion app sessions a day.
